About Mauritania
Chinguetti, an ancient trading center in Mauritania’s Adrar region, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. Known for its historic libraries and unique architecture, it reflects the region’s rich heritage and is easily accessible.
Oualata, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996, is an ancient Mauritanian city and former hub of the trans-Saharan trade route.
Ouadane, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996, is an ancient Mauritanian city in the Adrar Plateau. Once a key stop on the trans-Saharan trade route, it is also the closest city to the Richat Structure, or “Eye of the Sahara,” and is known for its historic architecture.
